With Halloween and Bonfire Night now a distant memory, plans for Christmas are now picking up pace and for Bratton this means getting ready for the Christmas lights switch-on.

Sponsored by local business Busy Books, Friday 1st December promises to be full of festive fun for all the family.

Team administrator for Busy Books, Karen Butterfield said, “The event will start at 5pm with Bratton schoolchildren’s lantern procession, which will leave from the school and onwards to the village green and pavilion.

“Mince pies and mulled wine will be on offer in the pavilion, organised by the Bratton Baptist Church.

“Then the lights will be switched on around the village and on the large Christmas tree. There will also be carols by Bratton Band and there will be snow!

“Father Christmas will then arrive courtesy of the Lions Club at the car park of The Duke, where a decorated gazebo and chair will be provided for Father Christmas, where he will give out wrapped, small gifts, to the children.

“Then it’s off to The Duke for mince pies and sausage rolls, where the grand raffle will take place. Raffle tickets are £1 per strip and can be bought through Busy Books’ office in Bratton and will be available in the evening.

“Market stalls will be set up in the Green from 5-7pm, where many local businesses will have their items on sale, for those of you looking for a festive gift.

“We hope that people will come to support the event on the 1st December and look forward to seeing everyone.

“Busy Books would like to say thank you to everyone that is involved for their help and support to make this village event special. We hope that this may continue as a annual event.”
