PREPARATIONS for this year’s Operation Christmas Child are under way and now is the perfect time to start gathering bits for your box!

The collection is run by relief charity Samaritan’s Purse, and sends thousands of shoeboxes full of presents to impoverished children around the world from their base in Westbury. There is a drop off point in Westbury town centre at Haine & Smith on the High Street from 1st-18th November.

Area co-ordinator for Wiltshire, Steve Lloyd who lives in Westbury, said, “It’s never too soon to begin thinking about Operation Christmas Child. Now is a great time to start buying bits and bobs for your boxes.

“Through Operation Christmas Child, God’s love is shown in a tangible way to needy children around the world. If you would like to be part of this amazing project there are a number of ways in which you can get involved. People can pack a shoebox and drop it off at Haine & Smith.

“We also need help in the warehouse to check and pack boxes, and help load the lorries for export. You could also be one of our amazing drivers, either using your own car or using our van. We are also searching for a garage or container storage to keep everything that is donated securely. If anyone knows of a warehouse available in the local area, please get in touch.”
