WORK has been completed on resurfacing the outdoor courts at Matravers School with astro-turf, to provide am all-weather facility for a wider range of sports for the school and the wider community.

“I’m sure you’ll agree that this new facility will not only be a wonderful addition for our school community, but also a wonderful facility for the wider community as well,” said Matravers headteacher, Dr Simon Riding. “Our vision is to deliver a sports village at Matravers and we are on-track for this.

“This facility will enable the school and the community to provide for a greater range of sports, increasing participation amongst many groups of people. The outdoor facility will eventually become flood-lit to help support this wider community use of the site all year round.”

Dr Riding added, “The arrival of the astro-turf is the start of the next phase of the school’s site master plan, which aims to transform the learning environment over the next 18 months.

“The school’s priority school building programme is on track to begin in the spring, which will deliver a three-storey 28-classroom block on the school site.”
