WESTBURY Youth Club is re-opening at Leigh Park Community Centre this week.

The youth club was forced to close in early June due to a volunteer shortage and soon after, embarked on a recruitment drive to find new volunteers.

Sarah Hiscox, youth leader  said, “Although the Westbury Youth Club had to close early last school year due to lack of volunteers, we are pleased to say that thanks to the support of the White Horse News and the community, we now have 10 volunteers wanting to be involved.

“During the summer, the volunteers have all undergone safeguarding training and many have also done first aid training.  Plans have been made to make the sessions interesting and fun with some structure, though we are keen to hear from the youngsters what they would like their club to be too.”

Youth club leader Paul Howard said, “I am passionate about young people being given valuable assistance and ‘tools’ to deal effectively with the ever greater pressures they face today, but in an enjoyable environment. For me, this is all about enjoyable self-learning and quite different from a school approach.”

The club officially reopens on Wednesday 13th September from  6 – 8pm and will be term-time only. Anyone from 11 – 18 is welcome to come along. Entrance costs £1 per week. For more information about the club email leighparkcommunity  centre@hotmail.co.uk.
