RESIDENTS of Westbury took to the streets for a day of action, to clean up their neighbourhood and to share their feedback about their community with local authorities.

Last week Sovereign Housing Association organised a community event in the Oldfield Park area of Westbury to meet with residents and build relationships with local service providers.

Content manager for Sovereign, Lucy Cook said, “The event was a great success, attended by residents and representatives from Sovereign and Westbury Town Council, including councillors and the town clerk.

“Supported by Wiltshire Council, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, and Hills Group, there was a community clear up, an estate walkabout – with residents able to give feedback about their neighbourhood – and an afternoon of fun family activities with food donated by Morrisons, and lots of children enjoyed competitions and games.

“As a result of the day, local councillors are discussing how to build stronger links with residents in the area, and all the local agencies involved had a chance to get feedback from Westbury residents.”

Communities officer for Sovereign, Scott Jacobs-Lange said,“We’re investing to build a strong and connected community in this area of Westbury.

“Events like this help us listen to the ideas and hopes that residents of all ages have for their community. By coming together to talk we’ve started to build the vital connections that turn ideas into action.”

Town clerk Deborah Urch, who also joined in on the action said, “Members of the town council attended the day and it was a great success. We spoke to lots of residents who raised issues with us, which we will be looking into.”
