AN Olympic athlete is coming to Westbury to help celebrate the opening of a new strength and conditioning training facility.

Team GB’s weightlifter Sonny Webster will be visiting IRONWORXto offer visitors a training showcase, as well as two group coaching sessions, which can be booked in advance.

Making his Olympic debut at the Rio Games last year, Sonny was TeamGB’s only male lifter at the Games and finished 14th in the men’s 94kg category.

The development of the new 4,000 square feet mega facility at IRONWORX, which boasts the home of The Athlete Centre Westbury, has seen a lot of hard work go in to it.

“It has taken an incredible effort and a lot of blood, sweat and tears, but we are extremely excited to be unveiling our fantastic new training facility for the Westbury and the wider South West community,” said head coach and director of IRONWORX, Lee Salter.

“This type of strength and conditioning facility is something that locally we have very limited access to and our ethos is to get people enjoying training, from regular day-to-day gym-goers, young potential sports stars to elite level athletes.

“We would like to invite everyone along to see and feel the atmosphere this place will produce.

“CrossFit, Strongman, powerlifting, Olympic lifting, open gym, team/club training, referral, HIIT and mobility will all be aspects we can cover and provide a home for.

“The time has come to bring an exceptional facility to our local community and this has been in the making since IRONWORX was founded in 2011.

“This facility and the equipment available will simply be unrivalled locally and we look forward to our showcase opening.”

The training facility, at Bridge House on Station Road, opens its doors on Sunday 9th July from 10am until 2pm. For more information or questions please contact Lee Salter on 07860 569974.
