Members of the public are invited to a night of entertainment under the stars at Bath’s Royal Victoria Park on Saturday 2nd September.

This year’s Movie by Moonlight is an outdoor screening of the musical Moulin Rouge (certificate 12A).

Movie by Moonlight is organised every year by the fundraising charity for Bath’s Royal United Hospitals (RUH) The Forever Friends Appeal. The appeal raises funds for all areas of the hospital, including the major fundraising RUH Cancer Care Campaign.

Emily Lynch, events & community officer at the Forever Friends Appeal said, “We’d like to see as many people as possible at this year’s screening. You don’t need a ticket to attend, just make a donation on the gate. Bring a blanket and snuggle up under the stars to watch this romantic musical.

“I’ll be there with my team welcoming everyone and we hope that people will make a generous donation on the night as all the money raised will go to our Cancer Care Campaign, for a pioneering new cancer centre to be built at the RUH.

“We know that one in two people are affected by cancer and everyday lives are changed by this disease. Therefore, the appeal aims to raise a minimum of £8.5million towards the building of the new cancer centre which will transform the care for patients and their families at Bath’s RUH. So far, an incredible £8million has been raised, so we are getting close to the amount we need and that’s why we organise events like these, so people can show their support and make a donation whilst enjoying free entertainment.”

The gates to the Movie by Moonlight event will open at 5pm and the film will start at 8.30pm. Access to the area will not be allowed before 5pm, so please don’t arrive too early.

Emily added, “I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsor, Freestyle Designs, Bath’s signage solutions company.  For three years, Jayson Godridge, managing director at Freestyle Designs has sponsored this event to promote the appeal and help us fundraise.

“Heart FM will be co-hosting with us on the night and the cinema screen is kindly brought to you by Filmair Cinema Services, so I’d like to say thank you to them for ensuring we have a fantastic atmosphere during the screening in Royal Victoria Park.”

Jayson Godridge, managing director at Freestyle Designs says, “We have worked with the appeal for a number of years now and know how important the RUH Cancer Care Campaign is to so many.”
