FOLLOWINGa story in the White Horse News, problems at Westbury Library have now been fixed, say Wiltshire Council.

Frustration was building in the town after library users felt that problems with slow internet and general poor conditions at Westbury Library were being ignored by Wiltshire Council.

Now, Wiltshire Council says the problems have been fixed and improvements have been made at the library.

A Wiltshire Council spokesperson said, “We provide an excellent service in all our libraries but would like to apologise to those visitors who experienced some technical issues at Westbury. We were made aware of the issue and connection improvements have now been made.

“We would encourage all library users to make us aware of any problems they are experiencing. All our libraries’ staff will be able to help.”

However, one library user disputes this and says there has been no change with the internet service and they are still having to complain.

Rachel Stroud said, “I tried to put the problem through the council complaints procedure and they sent me an email informing me that they weren’t going to investigate the problems at all. I am going to take this direct to the ombudsman as the council have provided proof that they can’t be bothered to sort the problems out. This seems typical of this council’s stance on Westbury.”

A Wiltshire Council spokesperson said: “We have received no complaints regarding the speed of the internet connection since the improvements have been made.”
