With the advent of spring and the summer months approaching, people are being reminded to renew their garden waste collection subscription by 16th June if they want their green bins emptied.
Existing customers will be sent a unique reference number to use to renew their service online or by phone, and new customers can sign up online at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/garden waste or by phone by calling 0300 456 0103.
The cost of the service is £44 per bin for the year. The council will not empty garden waste bins that do not have a valid sticker attached. Once someone has renewed their subscription they will be sent a new sticker for July 2017 to June 2018. There are no major changes to garden waste collection days for this period.
From April 2016 to February 2017 almost 28,000 tonnes of garden waste was collected from the 81,123 households subscribed to the service.
All garden waste collected is composted locally with people encouraged to put bark, grass cuttings, cut flowers, weeds, leaves, hedge clippings, twigs and small branches in the bins.
Carlton Brand, corporate director at Wiltshire Council said, “As we move into the months when we produce the most garden waste, I’d like to remind our garden waste customers to make sure they have signed up for next year’s collection service in good time.”
