Westbury Lions and Leos pick up litter in the town centre

LITTER picking heroes in Westbury turned out in force earlier this month to join the rest of country for the Great British Spring Clean.

Across Wiltshire, 142 events were held with more than 3,200 volunteers of all ages taking part and 1,882 bags of rubbish collected.

Westbury led the way with litter picking events taking place in the town and surrounding villages organised by community groups and schools.

Westbury Town Council, Westbury Lions and Leos and BA13+ Partnership joined families from Westbury in the clean up.

Westbury community engagement manager Liam Cripps said, “Figures from The Great British Spring Clean are pretty impressive with seven events, 90 volunteers and 95 sacks of litter from across the community area!

“Everyone who has volunteered for this project should be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved. A huge thank you to everyone who has been involved, it’s a real testimony of how fantastic the Westbury community is.”
