WESTBURY company Dentons celebrated its 50th year in business this month at a ceremony with the mayor of Westbury.
The mayor, councillor Stephen Andrews, and mayoress Mary Andrews cut a huge cake to mark the golden anniversary of one of the town’s major businesses.
The birthday bash was held at the headquarters of Dentons on Station Road and was attended by clients from across the west, including Bath, where the name Dentons is synonymous with entrepreneurial success.
Dentons was born when John, father of current MD Robin Denton, decided to ‘have a go’ at publishing a directory of goods and services for the city of Bath, back in 1967.
So successful was ‘the Bath book’ that Dentons not only repeated the exercise the following year, with an updated version, but has published a new directory for Bath every year since. In fact the company now publishes 25 directories a year for more than 50 areas across south west England, all delivered free of charge to local addresses.
The print directories are complemented by the vast online national database of dentons.net – the searchable ‘find anything, anywhere’ resource, with its mobile app.
Not only has the company’s directory business expanded dramatically, but Dentons now also has a strong reputation as a creative web design company, as well as a digital marketing and SEO consultancy.
“Dentons has moved with the times, still making its original core business work, but we’ve adapted and diversified to take advantage of modern technological opportunities,” said director Robin Denton.
