Change of plan for Glenmore Farm homes

PLANSto build a housing estate on land at Glenmore Farm, near The Ham, were changed earlier this month and the consultation reopened more than two months after a final decision was expected from Wiltshire Council.

The controversial plan to build up to 145 homes was changed following concerns raised by HPH Commercial Property, which is currently overseeing the building of Hawke Ridge Business Park nearby.

The new plan has changed the layout of the houses and shows that more trees and hedges will be retained and planted around the edges of the estate.

A spokesperson for HPH said that homes had been built near the company’s Woodland Industrial Estate in the town and residents had complained to Environmental Health. The firm recommended that, to avoid conflict between businesses and residents, noise reduction should be included in the plan and that some houses should be fitted with acoustic glass.

The new plan is now open to public comments until Friday 12th February. There has not yet been a target decision date published.

When the planning application was submitted in July last year it provoked concerns from local people and Westbury Town Council, and a campaign group was set up to oppose the development.
